Lauer's literary work blends reference and meaning with texture & sound, it is preoccupied with its personal nature, which involves emotional aptitude, the materiality of words, and the experimentation of form, to eventually become a revelation of its own process. He’s interested in the ways in which language can be used to create new forms of experience and to challenge our understanding of process. His work is deeply informed by his interest in the cinematic & visual arts, and he often incorporates elements of these mediums into his writing.
